Things I'm grateful for...

Today, in mass, Father Jan gave one of the better homilies that I've heard over the years. He spoke of reflecting on what you are grateful for during this holiday season and the blessings that the Lord has given you. As such, I wanted to take time to reflect on things I'm grateful for lately...

- I'm grateful to have found such a wonderful partner for life in Kevin. Each day, I count my blessings that the Lord brought Kevin to me. While we are vastly different, we're exceptionally similar as well. He is clearly my perfect fit, my soul mate, my best friend. While we've had troubles like every marriage, each argument, political difference, petty fight brings us closer together and makes us stronger as a couple. I'm so excited to take this journey with him as we become new parents and I can't wait to watch him become the wonderful father to our children that I know he will be.

- I'm grateful that the Lord has blessed Kevin and I with a strong, healthy child and a (for the most part) uneventful pregnancy. We are so excited about growing our family and bringing a new child of God into this world. I can't wait for every moment - even every diaper change. This is truly going to be the biggest blessing of our lives.

- I'm grateful that Kevin and I have such strong support systems in our families and friends. We are blessed to both come from tight knit families that are incredibly supportive and excited about our journeys. Both sets of parents and siblings have been especially wonderful, accommodating, and excited to welcome Baby Binga!

- We are grateful to have such a wonderful set of friends. We've learned over the years that the number of friends you have isn't the important thing, it's the quality of the friendships you have. So in addition to our families, we're thankful for Katherin, Brad, Andrea, Sapna, Karen, Jessica, Justin, Melissa, and so many more.

- I'm grateful that I've had the opportunity in the past few months to become closer to one of my cousins that I had fallen apart from as miles separated us over the years. Though she is going through some unimaginable trials in her life right now, I'm grateful that the Lord has blessed her with a loving heart, sharp mind, and great choices.

- I'm grateful that we both have jobs that we love and work with people that we love going to see. In this economic downturn, we've been able to push through relatively unscathed and continue to look forward to work each day (well, for the most part). Personally, I've been fortunate to work with the most intelligent, fun group I've had the pleasure of encountering over my 5 1/2 years in the workforce. It'll be hard to leave them in February, but I know I've made friends for life.

- I'm grateful that we have a wonderful home, with great neighbors that is perfect to raise children in.

- I'm grateful that I have 70 lbs of unconditional love in Willow. She's been the best dog we could have hoped for. It doesn't matter my mood, how tired I am, how emotional I become...she's always there with a quick lick to my cheek, kiss to my stomach, etc to let me know that there is always something there that will love me no matter what.

- I'm grateful for the Cincinnati Bengals, a winning season, and the Bengals nation family. Who dey.

- Overall, I'm just grateful for all of the wonderful gifts and blessings that the Lord has given us.

As we enjoy this holiday week, we encourage you to reflect on what you are grateful for.

We love you all. Happy holidays.
