We have had multiple peditrician appointments this week due to some nursing issues and to make sure Abby was growing ok. On Wednesday, Abby hadn't gained any weight since the previous week so the peditrician and I decided that we needed to up the amount of formula that we were supplementing her in order to make sure she was getting enough nutrition. So, after adjusting our supplement amounts to about 25% nursing, 75% formula, Abby has started to gain weight again! We went back on Friday and she was up 5 oz from Wednesday so she's back on track! She's now 9 lbs, 7 oz which I believe was in about the 40% percentile for 3 week year olds.
Grandma Peggy came to visit us on Wednesday and spent the night! What a WONDERFUL blessing this was. Kevin and I were able to go out for a few hours that evening - to dinner and to run some errands to Babies R Us, Sam's Club, etc (we're exciting, I know). But the best part was that Grandma took all night feedings and let Kevin and I sleep!! It was the best 8 hours of sleep I've EVER had. Thanks Grandma Peggy! Abby especially enjoyed all the cuddling she got!
Abby continues to amaze with how developed she is for a 3 week old. She was holding her head up for a bit in the hospital when she was only a day old, but she know can hold it steady for minutes at a time and can turn her head from side to side (almost a full 90 degrees). She has started cooing and I *think* we had a smile the other day! The peditrican even noted in our appt on Friday that Abby acts like a 2 month old. Such an over achiever :)
