Well, it's official - According to the updated due date they gave us at the 18 week appt (april 29th), Binga is 37 weeks today - full term! What a relief and milestone to get to. She'll be here before we know it!
It's been a rough week for mom as the pregnancy gets closer to the end. I'm not sleeping well and I've been nauseated for the past 3 days. Monday night, I started having bad lower back pains that came and went, then on Tuesday they moved to the front and my upper stomach as intense but not regular contractions. I went to the doctor today and she said these were all signs that my body is preparing for labor so at least we know we are moving in the right direction.
Speaking of dr. visit, the update is that Binga is officially "engaged" (aka, she has dropped head first into my pelvis, which is a relief because at this point it's unlikely, though not impossible that she'll be breech) and I'm 1 cm. dialated (which doesn't necessarily mean anything - many people can be dialated for weeks before true labor begins). As she left she goes "see you next week, if not before!" My money is still on April 25th as her birthday - we'll see!
Knowing that we're getting closer has definately motivated Kevin and I to get moving on our last minute things that we need to do. The nursery is now completely done, the hospital bags are packed, the carseat is installed, all of the baby items are put together and scattered in the right place around the house, lists of contacts are made, my draft e-mail announcement to my colleagues is in my draft folder of Outlook, bills are paid through mid-May, etc.
We're ready when you are baby girl!!!
