Today is Binga's first due date (for those of you who can't remember, they adjusted at the 20 week ultrasound. Some of the doctors at our practice use April 29, some use May 1st as her due date).
Kevin went with me to our 40 week appointment this morning. Still no dilation, no movement what-so-ever. She's pretty far down, but this hasn't started any progression yet. Hopefully soon. We met with Dr. Silver this morning who was my primary OB prior to getting pregnant. He's retiring in June so I haven't seen him during the pregnancy as I tried to meet the other doctors in the practice since I knew he wouldn't be delivering me. It was nice to see a Dr who knew my background, etc.
He was concerned that Binga might be getting too big, so he sent me for a growth ultrasound during my appointment then came in while it was being done to talk me through it. She's looking AMAZING - scored "8 out of 8" - What that measured, I have no idea :) She was practicing her breathing, moving alot, in position, etc. They estimated that she's about 8 lbs, 4 Oz which they said could go a lb in either direction. So, in essence, Binga is between 7 lbs, 4 oz and 9 lbs, 4 Oz right now. Pray that it's 8 lbs for mom's sake!
Because she was looking good size-wise and I haven't progressed, they want to wait on scheduling an induction to see if I can progress naturally (and avoid a long, hard labor). He scheduled for me an appointment next Tuesday afternoon with Dr. Bonar who is also on call at the hospital that night. He did that intentionally as that way, she could go ahead and send us to the hospital for induction if she wants to. If they want to wait awhile, they would schedule the induction for later that week (before Saturday I believe - they had previously said they don't want me to go past 7 days over my second due date).
Morale of the story? Binga is happy, content, beautiful and going to come on her own time.
My sister has access to update the blog and is responsible for it while I'm laboring so look for updates in the next week or so as we hopefully bring Binga into this world!
